MAKING MUSIC MAKES YOU SMARTER
Playing an instrument needs accuracy, concentration, hand and eye co-ordination and control. You learn an international language, your auditory perception increases and you have a valuable social skill. People with very different aptitudes and interests find enjoyment and satisfaction in music, whilst those with special needs and learning difficulties find that music making can strengthen their skills in an enjoyable way. (A special needs advisor is available for informal advice.) Many adults find a therapeutic value in music; lessons and practising are so absorbing that for busy people it is a chance to escape from the stresses of everyday life.

EXAMINATIONS
The School has an excellent record of exam results. For those entering examinations, our support is second to none. Aural training is provided in separate lessons with small groups who are preparing for the same grade. Expert accompaniment is provided with rehearsals beforehand. Music theory is taught in small classes or individual tuition is available. Practical musicianship and assistance with A-level harmony andcounterpoint can also be arranged. The School is a centre for Associated Board Examinations so our students have the advantage of performing their examination pieces in familiar surroundings.

WHAT ELSE HAPPENS AT THE SCHOOL?
ENSEMBLES - choirs, flute choirs, string quartets, clarinet choirs all are enjoyable and foster new skills.
CASIO KEYBOARD SCHOOL - want to play keyboards? Then enrol at Blackburn's new CASIO MUSIC CENTRE. Expert tuition in a new teaching studio and the latest Casio keyboards. Group or individual tuition and lessons for children and adults.

STUDENT CONCERTS - twice a year, at the end of term, students play at a concert for an audience of parents. This gives the students valuable performance experience and the audience has an enjoyable and enlightening afternoon or evening.
CONCERT VENUE - there is a new Grand Piano in the Barbirolli Room and throughout the year a programme of concerts given by teaching staff and guest performers will be advertised.
REHEARSAL FACILITIES - groups and individuals rehearse at the School on a regular basis and rooms may be hired very reasonably.
CONFERENCE FACILITY - our concert room, which seats 60 people can be hired, for day or evening use. Light refreshments are available and external catering can be arranged. It is suitable for conferences, evening or daytime classes or meetings. Enquiries and viewings would be welcome.
MATHS & LANGUAGE SCHOOL - individual tuition in mathematics and a wide range of modern languages including English at all levels and as a foreign language.
COFFEE BAR - whenever the school is open light refreshments are available.
TIME AND TUNE MUSIC SHOP - conveniently situated below the School, TIME AND TUNE, can supply all that any musician requires, with instruments, music and accessories for all tastes and abilities. Of special value to beginners is the range of 'Try Before You Buy' schemes whereby students can hire an instrument on a trial basis for three months. Included in the hire price is a voucher for one free 'taster' lesson in the School.
